Center for Clinical Research Ethics (CCRE)
Description
The aims of the Center for Clinical Research Ethics are:
- To develop excellent Clinical Research Ethics (CRE) education programs by
synergizing and enhancing existing programs and developing new programs that
respond to specific needs
- To develop a comprehensive consultation network that will assist ICTS
investigators and programs in addressing CRE within research protocols and
policies
- To develop a dynamic research program focused on CRE
Services Available to ICTS Members
Education:
- CCRE faculty are available:
- For educational presentations, working with the Human Research Protection Office
and the Center for the Study of Ethics and Human Values to coordinate those
presentations
- To discuss syllabi and program development, particularly the new educational
program to be developed for research coordinators and assistants
- CCRE faculty will offer the Ethical and Regulatory Issues in Clinical Research
class for K12, K30, T32 trainees and MS in Clinical Investigation students in
spring, 2008
Consultation:
- Consultations on clinical research ethics issues are available to investigators
and ICTS Program Functions whose research may raise special ethical issues.
- A checklist of clinical research ethics issues that might trigger a consultation
request has been developed and is used by the Scientific Review Committee in
combination with the Biostatistics review. The checklist is also available to
individual investigators upon request.
Research:
- CCRE personnel are engaged in several ongoing research projects on clinical
research ethics, and have a special interest in translational science and
research with vulnerable participants.
- CCRE personnel are available to consult and collaborate with ICTS investigators
and program functions in developing research proposals in the area of clinical
research ethics.
