BJHF-ICTS Funding Program
Description of the Program
The Barnes-Jewish Hospital Foundation (BJHF) and the Washington University Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences (ICTS) have partnered to offer a joint Clinical and Translational Research Funding Program. This initiative combines the former ICTS Pilot & Novel Methodologies Program and the BJHF Clinical/Translational Research Grant Program.
Eligibility:
All Principal Investigators applying for this funding must be members of the ICTS. Member eligibility information and registration are available at
www.icts.wustl.edu.
Objectives:
The Clinical and Translational Research Funding Program provides members of the ICTS with the opportunity to apply for funds to advance medical knowledge that can improve human health. This program supports:
- New investigators in either clinical or translational research who do not yet have their own peer-reviewed research support
- Established investigators who are working in other fields, but are interested in exploring new directions in clinical and/or translational research
- Established investigators already active in the field of clinical or translational research, but whose proposed project is different from their previous work
- Developing or maintaining inter- or multidisciplinary groups working on novel methodologies or research teams working on a clinical problem of interest and importance.
- Investigators collaborating with community organizations
The specific aims of this program are:
- To facilitate the development and implementation of novel clinical and translational research methodologies into human studies
- To facilitate the development of multi- and/or interdisciplinary groups or teams of investigators working on different or related aspects of important clinical or translational research problems
- To improve the quality of patient care, enhance patient safety and improve patient outcomes
- To help support the research activities of the Center for Clinical Research Training
Mechanisms:
BJHF and the ICTS expect to issue an annual call for proposals with awards being made in two categories:
- Planning Grants: Provide up to $25,000 direct costs for 1 year to facilitate the planning of a new clinical or translational research project
- Research Grants: Provide up to $75,000 direct costs per year for 1-2 years to support a clinical or translational research project
