Welcome from the Director

Kenneth S. Polonsky, MD
Adolphus Busch Professor and Chairman, Department of Medicine

Welcome to the Washington University Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences (ICTS) website. The Institute has been established through major funding from the National Institutes of Health’s Clinical and Translational Science Award program. The Institute is comprised of 15 key programs that will support the following specific aims:

  • Provide the infrastructure, resources and services needed to stimulate and facilitate the performance of outstanding, safe and ethical interdisciplinary research
  • Create a centralized home for Clinical and Translational Research Training and Career Development Programs for multiple disciplines
  • Establish inter-institutional partnerships for clinical research and training with community, academic health care and industrial organizations in the St. Louis region

The programs and services of the ICTS are designed to bring together basic research scientists and clinical researchers as well as health-care and commercial institutions in a coordinated system dedicated to improving patient care. We want to provide easy access to ICTS services and cores through use of this website, assistance from the Administrative Core, or personal contact with any of the individual Program Directors.

We have established a simple ICTS Membership Registration process which will allow members from WU and our partner institutions access to diverse resources and an opportunity to identify like-minded investigators for collaborative research. Please register and join us in this exciting endeavor.
